Dynamic Animation and Control Environment

چکیده
We introduce the Dynamic Animation and Control Environment (DANCE) as a publicly available simulation platform for research and teaching. DANCE is an open and extensible simulation framework and rapid prototyping environment for computer animation. The main focus of the DANCE platform is the development of physicallybased controllers for articulated figures. In this paper we (a) present the architecture and potential applications of DANCE as a research tool, and (b) discuss lessons learned in developing a large framework for animation.

An Interactive Approach to Behavioral Control
A method of interactively specifying behaviorally-controlled animation is presented. The method builds upon the behavioral animation approach described by Reynolds14 using a connectionist approach inspired by Braitenberg.3 Objects are given sensors and effectors, and the user interactively provides a mapping between them. The force from the motor effectors produces motion using a simple form of...
متن کاملDANCE: Dynamic Animation and Control Environment
Research in physics-based animation (PBA) and control is currently producing isolated results. Research e orts result in controllers that are bound to customized software supporting predetermined types of object and controllers, thus limiting opportunities to share or exchange results. We believe that an environment that remedies these limitations is essential to the progress of physics-based r...
متن کاملFuzzy Virtual Objects for Real-Time Moving Control of Mobile Robot in Dynamic Environments
The fuzzy virtual object is proposed based on fuzzy modelization of the moving objects in dynamic environments. The fuzzy virtual object is defined as a fuzzy set whose membership function contains the objects’ motion information. It provides a basis of motion control for mobile robots in dynamic environments. A new method of real-time fuzzy robot control is proposed based on the fuzzy environm...
متن کاملDeveloping EFL Learners' Oral Proficiency through Animation-based Instruction of English Formulaic Sequences
The current pretest-posttest quasi-experimental study attempts, firstly, to probe the effects of teaching formulaic sequences (FSs) on the second or foreign language (L2) learners' oral proficiency improvement and secondly, to examine whether teaching FSs through different resources (i.e. animation vs. text-based readings) have any differentially influential effects in augmenting L2 l...
متن کاملImage-Based Virtual Camera Motion Strategies
This paper presents an original solution to the camera control problem in a virtual environment. Our objective is to present a general framework that allows the automatic control of a camera in a dynamic environment. The proposed method is based on the image-based control or visual servoing approach. It consists in positioning a camera according to the information perceived in the image. This i...
